Socioeconomic Determinants of Pulmonary Tuberculosis during Covid-19 Pandemic: Case Control Study

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a public health issue of paramount importance. Pakistan ranks 5th amongst the high burden TB countries globally with prevalence, incidence and mortality per 100,000 population year from being 348, 276 34 respectively. Socio-economic determinants like income, house, family size, ventilation, etc. play vital role in epidemiology TB. Aim: To analyzes socioeconomic pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) during Covid-19 pandemic. Study Design: Case study Methodology: This case-control was undertaken at Gulab Devi Hospital, Lahore, over period 8 months. 50 cases confirmed Pulmonary controls were interviewed using questionnaire containing demographic variables gender, age, status. Data analyzed by SPSS Results: The sociodemographic profile our respondents showed that 62 (62%) males, 55 (55%) belonged to rural areas and, 52(52%) employed. which significantly associated PTB residence, occupation, number members, history smoking. Practical Implementation: Due emerging nature COVID-19 crisis, this helped researchers investigate socio-economical determinant pandemic infection. Conclusion: Gender, smoking PTB. However, TB, previous not found have statistically significant association Keywords: Tuberculosis, Covid-19, Incidence, Pandemic Condition Socioeconomic Determinants.
